2016 Petaluma Bounty Program Accomplishments

We at Petaluma Bounty have been very busy this year and we wanted to share some of our accomplishments and program developments with our community! Here is a short list of accomplishments we compiled as we look back on the growing season. Thanks to the support of our community, we are continuing to work hard at our goal of Healthy Food for Everyone.

Education and Engagement

School Trips and Service Learning

  • Service learning: 10 groups, 120 participants
  • School trips: 12 groups, 300 school children

Healthy Living and Nutrition Education

  • ALIVE: 16 sessions,  22 limited income families, 85 Free CSA Bounty Food Bags

Job Training and Skill Building

  • Youth Employment: 5 Sonoma County Youth Ecology Corps summer job trainees
  • Internships: 8 college student interns
  • Summer Community Workshop Series: 4 workshops

Volunteer Program

  • Several hundred volunteers completed over 2000 hours of community service

 

Food Access

Production & Donation

  • Pounds of Food harvested from Bounty Farm: 6500 lbs
  • Pounds of Food Donated to local food banks by Bounty Farm: 1000 lbs

Farmer’s Market LIFE (operated at 12 markets across Sonoma and Marin County)

  • Amount of incentives distributed through LIFE Markets: $44,260
  • Amount of CalFresh distributed through LIFE Markets: $56,950
  • Number of CalFresh transactions: 2620
  • Farmer’s Market Tours for CalFresh customers: 16

Farm stand and Farmacy Totals

  • 55% of Bounty Farm produce sold at reduced rates through our sliding scale farm stands and CSA bags
  • CalFresh Sales (50% discount): $1205.22
  • Discounted low-income Sales (30% discount): $1928.13

Bounty Hunters

  • Pounds of fresh produce gleaned & donated to local food panries: 1500

Bounty CSA Bags:

  • 50% Discount EBT (CalFesh) Bags: 80 or 32%
  • 30% Discount Low-Income Bags: 49 or 20%
  • 85 Free Bags for ALIVE participants: 83 or 33%
