Fruit Tree Planting 1-year Anniversary Work Day - Saturday March 13

March 13, 2010
9:00 AMto3:00 PM

At this time last year, 50 volunteers gathered at the Bounty Farm to plant 76 fruit trees.  It was one of the best work days of last season to have so many members of this community come to the farm and plant a fruit tree legacy (click to watch the video!). There are now 120 fruit trees, 49 of them with adoptive parents and still many more wanting to be adopted. To adopt a tree, go to the adopt a tree form.

Please come join us in celebrating the one year anniversary of the fruit tree planting and help out in clearing some of the cover crop around the trees, adding fertility around the base of the trees, staking and training of the trees and sending good vibes to help these trees grow and prosper.

We will also probably start clearing beds of cover crop in other areas of the farm, work on putting up a section of fence in the front of the farm, weeding EVERYWHERE, and of course, enjoying a good meal together around noon. All of these activities are subject to chance depending on how wet the soil is.

What to bring:

  • good food and/or drinks to share (we always have a yummy lunch together around noon)
  • sturdy boots, strong gloves, sun screen and hat

As always, the menu includes some good hard work, getting dirty, and learning new skills, and working together to grow this great community farm.  Please bring your friends and family of all ages.

For more information or to RSVP, please call me at 775-3663 (ext 213), or email me at amy@petalumabounty.org. I look forward to seeing you there!
