Compost building Work Party at the Bounty Farm November 14th 9 am to 3 pm

November 14, 2009
9:00 AMto3:00 PM

Who out there loves shoveling manure and making fertile compost to grow Bounty goodness? I know there are a lot of you that love making compost and what better time of year to come and help us out, than nice cool fall days.

We’ve built up considerable piles of greens from clearing beds to put in winter cover crop and now it is time to incorporate the crop residue in with some manure and straw to make some nutritious food for our next season’s crops.
We will also plant 4 olive trees on a hill side, plant some additional perennials along the front fence and work on filling in the labyrinth that the third graders at Live Oak Charter School created in October.  If you have a medium sized stone or rock or found object (anything you’ve found on a hike or a stroll in town) please bring it to add to the labyrinth so it can be completed.

This will be our last work party until next year so I would love to see as many of you out to the Bounty Farm as possible. There will be no work day in December.

What to bring:

  • good food and/or drinks to share (we always have a yummy lunch together around noon)
  • bowl or plate and silverware (so we don’t create too much waste)
  • sturdy boots, strong gloves, sun screen and hat
  • digging tools (shovels, pitch forks) if you have them

You can expect some good old fashioned hard work, getting dirty, and learning together, while we continue to grow this great community farm. Please bring your friends and family of all ages.

For more information or to RSVP, please call me at 775-3663 (ext 213), or email me at amy@petalumabounty.org. I look forward to seeing you there!

Amy
