The Bounty Farm continues to shine this summer and it is looking finer than ever before. There are lots of new developments and crops coming into maturation for you to come and check out at our next work party. We will be focusing on planting the mound of soil below the beautiful Phoenix Theatre mural. Cottage Gardens and the Rose Garden Nursery of Petaluma have generously donated lots of perennials to plant around the base of the mound.
We will also be spreading wood chips EVERYWHERE. Wood chips help suppress weeds and retain moisture and we have the entire hedgerow to cover as well as some main pathways around the farm to beautify. If you have cardboard you can donate, please bring it with you, and we’ll layer it under the wood chips as mulch.
Our efforts this day will go towards putting the farm’s best foot forward for the farm dinner the following weekend. We need all the help we can get to make the Bounty Farm show off all of the hard work that volunteers have contributed over the last year and half to make this flourishing educational farm what it is today.
What to bring:
- good food and/or drinks to share (we always have a yummy lunch together around noon)
- bowl or plate and silverware (so we don’t create too much waste)
- sturdy boots, strong gloves, sun screen and hat
- digging tools (shovels, trowels, pick ax) if you have them
You can expect some good old fashioned hard work, getting dirty, and learning together, while we continue to grow this great community farm. Please bring your friends and family of all ages.
