Bounty Farm

This year, we are celebrating the legacy of Cesar Chavez by hosting a Day of Service at Bounty Community Farm. In honor of his pioneering work in farm worker’s rights, we will spend the day caring for the land and growing food for our community.  We will also be finishing planting and celebrating our newly installed Unity Garden. We would love to see you there!

What? Cesar Chavez Day of Service

When? Saturday, April 1st, 10am-2pm

Where? Bounty Community Farm, 55 Shasta Avenue, Petaluma

Workday: We will be working in the fields and greenhouse with activities such as potting up plants, weeding, sheet mulching, planting and preparing for the Plant Sale.  Please bring clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, and a reusable water bottle.

Families and Children: This is a family friendly event! Children are welcome – there will be kid-friendly activities!

Food: Sun tea and small snacks will be provided. We encourage you to bring your lunch so that we can all share a meal together!

Unity Garden Celebration:  The strength of our community comes from its diversity. April 1st will also serve as the final planting day and celebration of Bounty Farm’s new Unity Garden. The garden contains plants from around the world to represent our community’s diversity and multiculturality. The garden is located in the front of Bounty Farm and has Sensory, Culinary, and Medicinal sections. These will be U-pick areas for our CSA Bag members and for those who come to the Farm Stand.

Other Activities: We will also set aside time to honor Cesar Chavez with words, and we will have a dedicated remembrance space that you can visit all day long. Feel free to bring in items, quotes, and pictures that resonate with your personal connection to Cesar Chavez Day.

Why? Cesar Chavez is a state holiday and day of remembrance and recognition of the work of Cesar Chavez for farm worker and worker rights, economic justice, civil rights, environmental justice, peace, non violence, and empowerment of the disenfranchised.
