Programs

Building a sustainable local food system with healthy food for everyone is a tall order.

It takes hard work, creativity, collaboration, and new ways of thinking about things. It also requires new business models, new partnerships and new programs that can engage everyone in the community in the process.

Our core programs are designed to work together to help the children, families and seniors who are hungry or food insecure today, while building individual and community food self-reliance for the long-term. These programs are made possible through the thousands of hours that our volunteers contribute each year, and the generous in-kind and financial contributions of our community partners and supporters.

Petaluma Bounty Hunters is our community-wide food gleaning program, collecting fresh, healthy food from backyard gardeners, farms, orchards and businesses, and distributing it to families and seniors who can’t otherwise afford it, through local food pantries and low-income senior and family housing centers.

Our growing network of Community Gardens enables, individuals, families and even community groups to grow their own healthy food at almost no cost—while also growing new relationships and healthier neighborhoods.

The Bounty Farm is our educational urban farm located on a 2 ½ acre donated site in central Petaluma, where we grow organic food for the community and also grow new skills and understanding about sustainable agriculture and its role in a healthy food system.

Bounty Box Food Club provides low-income earning families with a weekly box of organic fruit and vegetables at wholesale prices, subsidized by sales of the same food boxes at retail prices.

Our newest program, Backyard Bounty, will help you build your own home garden, from design to installation (including watering systems). We’ll even get your plants in the ground for you!
