Petaluma Bounty designed and administered the Senior Bounty Bucks program in 2023-2024 with the goal of expanding benefits of the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP).
The federally funded SFMNP provides coupon booklets to income-qualified seniors for the purchase of fresh, nutritious, unprepared, locally grown produce, cut herbs, and raw honey at certified farmers markets.
In 2023, Petaluma Bounty applied for and received a grant from the California Nutrition Incentive Program to expand SFMNP’s benefits. The Senior Bounty Bucks program ran from August 2023 to January 2024.
The Senior Bounty Bucks program provided additional funds to SFMNP seniors so they could continue to purchase locally grown, fresh fruits and vegetables at participating farmers markets.
Coaction Institute founder Dory Magasis Escobar, PhD, who is on the Bounty advisory board, and her evaluation assistant Camina Gillotti examined the Senior Bounty Bucks program and authored the following evaluation report. In it, you’ll find program details, challenges, accomplishments, and recommendations. We at Petaluma Bounty hope the evaluation will be a resource for future program design and administration that lead to positive impacts.
