Strong winds that threatened to blow away our silage tarp calmed down just in time as more than 70 people arrived at our farm for our 2025 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service on January 18.
Many participants were new to the farm. They joined staff and regular volunteers to clear the fields and greenhouse, clean the chicken coops, vacuum the education shed, and more. Some volunteers focused on handcrafting much needed signs.
Petaluma Bounty’s annual MLK Day event kicks off regular volunteer hours after a winter break. Regular volunteer hours are Wednesdays and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to noon. Sign up for a shift on our Calendly.
We are grateful to Preferred Sonoma Caterers, Whole Foods and Trader Joes for donating pastries, sandwiches and snacks to keep staff and volunteers going. Big thanks also go to Petaluma People Services Center leadership for their unwavering support.
