Huge Thanks to Petaluma Sunrise Rotary!

As a community non-profit, we are always so thankful for work projects that other groups take on! This Spring, we were thrilled to welcome the Petaluma Sunrise Rotary out to the Bounty Community Farm as they working alongside our umbrella organization, Petaluma People Services Center to utilize DDF Funding to create new seating in the Unity Garden, which will be wonderful for use for educational groups that come out to the farm! Thanks to Bob Tuttle and the Petaluma Sunrise Rotary for the project description and the photos used in this blog!

PHASE 1: During the first phase of the project, weeds and invasive plants were removed from the Unity Garden area by Rotarians from Petaluma Sunrise, over 2 weekends. Mulch, supplied by Bounty Farms was laid down, old furniture was removed, and two benches were taken by Rotarians for renovation.

PHASE 2: Given the space limitations and Covid, the decision was made to have club members build 5 benches that would be placed at Unity Garden. The tables needed to be small enough to fit in the garden area and be easily moved by two Bounty Farms staff. A prototype was built, and then members of the Petaluma Sunrise Rotary and family came together to build them.

In one morning, five tables were assembled, sanded, and painted. The tables were then delivered to Bounty Farms for placement in the Unity Garden area.

The tables, along with the refurbished benches will be a wonderful convening space at the Bounty Community Farm as we look at being able to welcome more groups – both for volunteering and education – back to the Bounty as COVID restrictions lessen.

The areas looks fantastic and we are so thankful for the community support this Spring in beautification and structural projects at the farm!
