When people use CalFresh at farmers markets and other farm-direct outlets such as farm stands and CSAs, Market Match provides matching funds so that customers can buy even more fruits and vegetables. For example, a customer who spends $10 of CalFresh benefits at the farmers’ market receives an additional $10 to spend on fresh produce.
Starting today through December 31, 2023, Farmers Market LIFE (FM LIFE) markets that usually offer $10 in match will increase match to $15. The FM LIFE markets increasing to $15 are:
- Cotati Community Farmers Market
- Fairfax Wednesday Certified Farmers Market
- Mercadito Roseland Farmers Market – Sunday
- Novato Certified Farmers Market
- Petaluma Eastside Certified Farmers Market
- Petaluma Evening Certified Farmers Market
- Petaluma Saturday Walnut Park Certified Farmers Market
- Rohnert Park Certified Farmers Market – Friday
- Russian River Farmers Market
- Santa Rosa WIC Market
- Sebastopol Certified Farmers Market
The increase is due to the overall incentive spending rates thus far for the year. All $10 markets running the Market Match program were offered the opportunity to increase to $15 the daily maximum amount. To learn more, go to the Market Match website. Watch the video below to learn how it works.
