Farmer Reyna Leaves an Indelible Mark

If you haven’t been tracking the Bounty Farm daily operations, you may have missed the perseverance and commitment that Reyna Yagi continued to demonstrate throughout the 2021 season. Each farming season is unique and offers new and unexpected challenges. If you’d like to learn about the 2021 challenges from Reyna’s perspective, read her harvest season reflections here.

Reyna announced her departure from the Bounty team back in June. But after seeing a limited candidate pool during mid-farming season, and some abrupt life changes from a handful of candidates, Reyna decided to get us through the peak of 2021.

We are grateful, relieved, but not surprised, as she has gone beyond the call of duty on many occasions — always with the community’s well-being in mind. Reyna is dedicated and driven to leave whatever she invests in better than how she found it, and the Bounty Farm is no exception.

Systems are better organized, tool sheds are less chaotic, training protocols and comprehensive crop variety descriptions are ready to inform the next generation of volunteers, consumers, and farmers. For anyone who has enjoyed an experience at the Bounty Farm over the past three years, or tasted some of our delicious produce, it is probably due to, or at least improved by Reyna’s management.

We thank you, Reyna, from the bottom of our hearts for steering the Bounty Community Farm through a pandemic, the first (and last) online plant sale experience, dozens of poor air quality events, a handful of fire response drives, and the daily shenanigans and exquisite moments of connection that can only come from community farming. Wherever you land next, may it allow you a more steady pace of nourishment and hilarity!

We are hiring our next Community Farm Manager

Now that we are through the height of our season, we are looking to onboard our next farmer to start the 2022 farming season with us. Reyna’s tenure will end late October, so we will ideally find the right candidate around that time.
