This year, we are celebrating the legacy of Cesar Chavez by hosting a Day of Service at Bounty Community Farm. In honor of his pioneering work in farm worker’s rights, we will spend the day caring for the land and growing food for our community. We will be having service hours from 9 am until 12 pm, with a shared meal and discussion questions to follow. Please bring something to share!

What? Cesar Chavez Day of Service

When? Saturday, April 1st, 9 am – 12 pm

Where? Bounty Community Farm, 55 Shasta Avenue, Petaluma

Workday: We will be working in the fields and greenhouse with activities such as potting up plants, weeding, sheet mulching, planting and preparing for the Plant Sale.  Please bring clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, and a reusable water bottle.

Families and Children: This is a family friendly event! Children are welcome – there will be kid-friendly activities!

Food: We encourage you to bring  a dish or your own lunch so that we can all share a meal together after!

Other Activities: We will also set aside time to honor Cesar Chavez with words, and we will have a dedicated remembrance space that you can visit all day long. Feel free to bring in items, quotes, and pictures that resonate with your personal connection to Cesar Chavez Day.

Why? Cesar Chavez is a state holiday and day of remembrance and recognition of the work of Cesar Chavez for farm worker and worker rights, economic justice, civil rights, environmental justice, peace, non violence, and empowerment of the disenfranchised. Is this event only for people that read/speak English? While trying to translate the invitation to Spanish by selecting from the drop down menu, Spanish is not available.
This event is a great opportunity for Spanish speakers to learn more about the great work of Cesar Chavez. Please advise

Thanks for letting us know about the website translation not working – it is something we are looking into! As far as the event on Saturday, it will be bilingual! Hope to see you there!
